Incoming Tide, Garry Beach Garry Beach is situated on the North-East of Lewis. A sheltered beach, fourteen miles from Stornoway, it is a magnet for pleasure seekers all year round, especially dog walkers. It is a place where I as an artist often find inspiration to paint. In the foreground of this painting are the famous Garry sea stacks (or “Caistealan” as they are locally called). At the end of the tarmacadam road further up is the famous “Bridge to Nowhere”. This was constructed during the last century in order to link Tolsta with Ness, further North. It was abandoned due to lack of funds. ask about buying: a print view: map location | nearby pictures |
