SY Columbine This old fishing boat lies pulled up on the foreshore in the village of Cromore, South Lochs, never to go to sea again. This district of Lewis is fondly called by some the lake district of the Island due to its density of sea lochs. A quiet village, due to its distance from Stornoway, it now has few inhabitants. However, a hidden gem, it is is very beautiful, its houses huddled in hillsides and glens. The old Columbine in her heyday would have been an impressive trawler but now lies paint peeling and at the mercy of the Hebridean elements. I believe it was its slight dereliction that atracted me to compose this composition. ask about buying: a print view: map location | nearby pictures |
