This painting captures a sudden Summer storm which has just swept in from the Atlantic. Eoropie is a small village, part of the larger township of Ness in North Lewis. In the midst of the storm the last hint of sunlight disappears. This coastline is very exposed and rugged, and prone to stormy dramatic seas.
